Every week I take a stack of paperwork to the local Kinkos and use their big counter top to sort them into 5 groups and then make photocopies on their self service copiers. For the most part, the copiers are fast and a reasonable price at 8 cents per copy, plus tax. All that is great, because they are just down the street and I don’t know anyplace else within a 10 minute drive of my house where I can do this weekly chore.
But it’s hard on my nerves to be working on the papers and trying to sort through them, match them up, etc. with the employees behind the counter laughing loudly and yelling across the room to each other. I really don’t want to hear about the last 4 albums that the freak downloaded for free. I don’t want to hear about all their favorite pizza toppings while they try to decide where they will order out for lunch. I REALLY don’t want to hear about they girl with a pierced tongue just kicked her boyfriend to the curb when she found him kissing another girl in the parking lot of their apartments.
I suppose until they install a soundproof glass barrier between the copier section and the work area behind the counter, I’ll start carrying an MP3 player with me so at least i have SOME influence on what I will be listening to while I work.
